Galen and Phyllis are two of our warm, smiling missionaries here at the Haft. They served in Central America for 28 years and now serve at the Haft. Galen and Phyllis have been married for 53 years. They are marriage mentors, prayer coaches, and avid bird watchers. They have experience, wisdom and counsel to share with couples, families and individuals.
Drew and Cindy are co-directors and missionaries. Before moving to the Haft, they lived in Central America helping children, teenagers and families. Drew is a trainer, licensed pastor, and Christian counselor. His masters degree is from Wheaton Graduate School. Christian counseling that he provides is supervised by a psychiatrist and Church overseer.
Cindy smiles all the time! She joyfully leads people to intimacy with Christ through singing, listening and teaching. She works with girls, teenagers, mothers and groups. Cindy is a chef for our many guests who request that service. She has prepared a meal to serve 45 people, so meal preparation for large or small groups is a service that can be provided.
Lynn is a volunteer with a testimony of being healed from past abuse and trauma. Now she can help women overcome their issues so they get victory in their lives. Lynn helps people in prayer, friendship and mentoring.
Kendall and Elisa have fostered and adopted children, so they volunteer to walk with families through the issues that come with taking in children. They enjoy praying with people and are gifted at helping people heal from personal struggles.
Paula is our volunteer researcher and clinician. She can provide an extensive array of assessments and evaluations so people get a clearer understanding of their issues. Paula also provides mentoring for females and training for groups.
Judy and Alonzo (affectionately called Bunky) are our Pastoral Couple serving our missionary team and guests. They help everyone feel loved, learn and practice the Bible, and have a listening ear. Judy is a peer counselor, mentor for wives and mothers, and a prayer intercessor for those she helps. Bunky and Judy volunteer their time to help others.
Scot and Pheny are missionaries who pastored a local church for over 20 years and are available for pastoral care, prayer, marriage counseling and individual ministry time. Their heart is for families and children. Scot is an ordained pastor.
Shannon is our Development Directors and is also a long-term missionary and nurse. She helps people learn how get involved. Shannon is from Tennessee so has a fantastic southern accent! Her heart is to help children and families.
Also important are our therapeutic farm animals!
We utilize small animals in our work helping families and individuals. Families learn not just to pray and play together - but to work together too to accomplish goals. There is a lot of work to be done on a 105 acre farm! All of our animals have Bible names. The fainting goats will eat from your hand when you feed them. But be careful, they will lock up and faint if you frighten them. It is uncanny how people can be like animals when they are scared or hurt.
People love our Pigmy fainting goats
The farm and programs are overseen by the Boards of Directors of two nonprofit organizations, We Help Children and The Haft. We work together to help families refresh, retool and rebuild their lives in Jesus Christ.
